Week 6

 1. What did you learn this week?

This week in lab we learned so much. To begin we pollinated our plants using bees. I did not know that you can pollinate plants by just rubbing them with dead bees. I did not know that you can pollinate plants by rubbing them with dead bees. We also learned about the game called turtle, turtle watch out. This game taught us many different nature and human causes and effects on the turtle population. In this game we used fortune tellers and whichever one we landed on we either had to stay standing or sit depending on what happened to the turtle. We also learned about the different biomes and food chains in those biomes.

2. How can you apply what you've learned to your teaching in the future?

I think I will bring the turtle game we played into my future teaching. I thought it was a good visual for us to see the effects of humans and nature can cause such a big decrease in the turtle population. I liked how we graphed how many people were still standing after each round too. It tied in math with science and it gave us evidence to back up the statement that the population decreased every time. I think you could bring in a lot of different topics and use this game as well.

3. What are new or remaining questions?

I think my only question remaining was what's the difference between a live bee pollinating a flower and a dead bee pollinating the flower? Is there a big difference?
